Re: South Coast Cod
The carpets seems to be closed permanently ive checked it 3 times in recent weeks and it has been closed, no timber on the quayside or ships docked.
The link for marine traffic in donals post was an excellent way of telling if the gates were open.
Anyone know why the gates are permanently closed?
Cheers

Been fishing around youghal today , some good flounder about but was mainly after Ray which was a no show , but the carpets was open and nobody fishing there at all , either down to the lack of cod yet or the rugby but I was surprised to see it empty

If the cargo is unloaded and removed the gates may be opened again by Friday night. If it is left on the quay I would think they will be kept closed. Have a plan B ready if you are planning a trip that way.

If you can't get fresh crab from any of those boys (comp) try Cal Flavins (Hardware) for some frozen crab.

Re: Carpets Youghal
Hi lads,
Can the Carpets be fished at any stage of the tide or is it only fishable over slack?
Was also wondering the same about the Monatarae stretch near Ferry Point.
Final qn (full of them today), for Garryvoe, not asking for any favourite spots, but is near the carpark as good as any?
Fished a good few of the Youghal marks but down next weekend and want to try some new ones.
Thanks
