Reel oil in cork

#1 Post by mrphybrian »

Hi lads, does anyone know if there is a tackle shop in cork that sells red rocket fuel? I've tried halfway and the outdoor and fishing shop in the kinsale road to no avail. I could order online but I'd prefer to support local business. Thanks in advance.

Maybe Tom in TH SPORTS in midleton might have some, just like a thing he might have some stashed away or Paul in eastcork bait and tackle.Failing that maybe John o Brien in Waterford may have some lying around and they will post.

Hi there , don't bother with the rocket fuel !! Use 30 grade mower oil , just the same and you get about 100 times more for the same price

Just out of interest what reel is it ? And what makes rocket fuel the correct oil for it ?
I am a fixed spool man and I presume you have a multiplier reel ?

Penn 525mags and a 525 mag 2. Small high speed bearings need an oil which won't let them spin too fast or slow the viscosity of the mower oil is too thick. Rocket fuel to be fair is a tried and tested oil and maybe it's because I'm a mechanic I'm a stickler for tried and tested oils when it comes to it! Thanks all the same!

Ah your grand Sean! Thanks for the reply though! I think I'm going to give the spinning a shot this year, I've been threatening it long enough to!
