East cork bass

#1 Post by cod chaser »

People myself
Tide 3 hrs up
Weather beautiful
Bait hard lures
Results 1 bass
Hi lads was waiting for the opening day to come around. Tides & weather checked things were looking good. Arrived at the mark 3 hrs before high tide sea was almost calm a breeze was coming from the south east. I had decided to fish hard lures but only 2 different lures. A tackle house feed shallow & a rapala max rap. Was not going to chop & change lures every 15 minutes. I started off with the feed shallow & changed over to the max rap after a hour. Had a take on the max rap but no hook up. About 2 hrs before hight tide I changed back to the feed shallow & after 20 mins got a massive take reel singing & a bass surfaced 20 meters out shaking his head & made another run. I knew it was big & after getting him within a few meters of the shore I could see he was hooked in the mouth & chin. Then the hooks on the chin slipped out & 1 single hook was in his mouth. I tried to reach for the lure to lift him out & he slipped the hook was lying on a flat rook 2 feet below me. I reckon he was between 6 to 7 lb my best lure bass ever rolled over & swam away. I was very sure I would get another & within 10 mins I saw the bass take the lure & turn away fish on. After a good run landed the bass about 3 lbs & was safely returned. Had a few more knocks but no hook ups. Had a great evening on the opening evening weather calm sea & a few bass around. Image

Nice, feed shallows really are great. One of those must haves in the tackle box. I get mine from Samuray tackle for around €16. Delivery of €10 so you need to order a few to make it worth your while but who ever buys just one lure..??!!! :-)

Thats good fishing Cod Chaser. Beautiful lookin fish too, pity the 6lb got off before you had a pic to remember him by. Bass are addictive, looking at the pic makes me want to head out right now. Thanks for sharing.

Great looking fish, feed shallow on the money again. I for one won't ever be without one because I got my first lure bass on one!
