Bad news indeed. The marks there are not ideal on last weekends winds. RIP.

Re: Another Angler Missing
I passed in the coast road yesterday at around 3pm and the wind was blowing with the tide and it was flat enough looking but the swells were hammering off the rocks on closer inspection. RIP.

http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/tr ... 45368.htmlTragedy as man drowns in sea just 100m away from life buoy
17 DECEMBER 2013
A man drowned off the Clare coast was just 100m away from a lifebuoy when he was swept into sea while fishing with a friend
It’s unclear if the Lithuanian man got to the buoy before disappearing from sight off Blackhead lighthouse in North Clare.
His companion drove some 80m away to Tuam, in Co Galway but was unable to tell gardai where they had been fishing and could only indicate they were near a lighthouse.
Gardai had to ring colleagues in Clare in an effort to identify the location.
The search operation was launched around 4pm, two hours after the man entered the water.
Sea conditions in the area at the time were said to be rough with swells of over 2m (6ft).
The search was stood down for the night and resumed yesterday morning but was called off around lunchtime due to the stormy weather conditions.
Not the first non-national.....not the last methinks.

Re: Another Angler Missing
There wasnt even a need to go to Bally, he could have flagged someone down on the road. Something fishy about it.corbyeire wrote:what was he doing up in Tuam!!!

Re: Another Angler Missing
Thats just devastating. What were they doing on the atlantic coast is such weather !! A call to 999 wud have been better than calling to Tuam. Seems a bit fishy alright but theese european friends of ours dont have a clue what they are at half the time.
Recently I was fishing a local pier and a couple of europeans were fishing away and one of their sons (only 2 or 3 years old id say) was going around with nobody watching him and next thing he falls in over the quay , luckily the father got him out but only lucky.
My deepest sympathys go out to the family of the missing man who was fishing in Clare
RIP
