Where there many fishing? Where others catching? Clogherhead has been very blank so this could be the start of something.bluebeard wrote:Five from Clogherhead this evening.
Were you on the pier or rocks?

Yep...there where a good few people out there, maybe 5 or 6. Just casting from the pier. Was out there for about 4 hours using feathers with some lug worm attached. Got 6 Mackerel (seal got one) on two casts in the space of ten minutes, then nothing.srameen wrote: Where there many fishing? Where others catching? Nobody else got a thing. Got chatting to some guy who said he'd been coming out there since May, so far he'd only caught three pollock on feathers.
Others have said that the lads are filling their buckets around Cork, hopefully they've decided to grace the East coast with their presence!

Many thanks. It has been very slow there. Hopefully things are looking up. The seals took 2 Pollock there on me last week - pests!

Was out on fanad head this evening, lost count of the amount of macks caught, there's plenty of caut for the rest of the year and a good few houses have dinner tomorrow!!...lots of pollock around 2lbs about too...had a few games if chase with a seal too!...but the macks were there in force, weighed a few, average of 1lb, good sizes!
sure, its not raining between the showers!

Was out for an hour or two on Dun Laoghaire West Pier yesterday.
No luck myself, another guy said he got 5 after a few hours.
Didn't seem like there was much going on though, think most people left empty-handed.

Was out in Helvick for a walk yesterday and a couple of guys were starting to pull in ones and twos a good 3 hours before high tide. One of the guys said it was silly season on Sunday. Bucket loads of them. Thinking I'll try it myself this evening. Wouldn't mind a change from cod

Got another bucket load in boatstrand Waterford tgis evening. Only about 20/30 yards off the rocks. Easy for the kids to catch. Had to leave when 3 Muppets turned up who nearly took my head off a few times casting.

Bucketloads off Cobh again tonight!!! Large breaks apparent on the surface; something that hasn't been seen for awhile.

To echo what Pat said all along the quays yesterday afternoon plenty of macks, and one particular shoal broke so close we could hear the poor sprats screaming in terror
.It was brilliant seeing so many people getting in amongst the action.
