Bait in Louth

#1 Post by srameen »

Hi, I'm just about to start beach fishing having been a Brown Trout fly fishing hacker for years. I have most of the gear at this stage but know nothing about bait. As mackerel haven't hit here yet they are not available so I'm thinking Lug or Rag but haven't a clue where to start. Where would I get some? Are there any spots from about Annagassan to Greenore where I could dig a few? I know people probably want to keep their spots private but any steer would be greatly appreciated to get me started. I can hardly catch anything with no bait! Many thanks.

Would that be the beach to the north or south of the village?

Do you know any areas north of there, as it's the guts of an hour from home.

Thanks.

Port beach is only 10 minutes from Annagassan, towards Greenore you have Whitestown/Templetown beach, Gyles quay and Balagin point. Plenty of options...
Good things come to those who bait.

Thank you all very much. It's a hard old game to get started on when you know absolutely nothing about it.
