Re: Louth/Meath Shore Marks
Although there can be good fishing in meath and louth at certain times of the year for bass and flonder it can take a lot of time and a seasoned anglers eye to tell suitable marks conditions and tactics to get you on the fish.... if I were you being a novice I would travel a bit further to south dublin or wicklow were a variety of species are present all year round and are easier located then on your local beaches ... doin this will get you used to catching fish an pickin up skils on bait tides tactics etc before you tackle some of the meath and louth beaches for bass and such .. try killiney bray harbour or greystones to start with ..

Re: Louth/Meath Shore Marks
Ye greystones killiney and bray harbour can all be fished the same way 2 hook rig with worm and fish baits over high water... once ya get your bearings and start to master the sport give baltray at the mouth of the boyne and bettystown in meath a shot around july or august also over a high tide and ya might find a few fish hope this helps .....

Re: Louth/Meath Shore Marks
if their is a surf (a decent one) the beaches in louth can be very good ,its all down to finding out best time of the tide and the hot spots, keep a beady eye on other local anglers if they are fishing chances are their is a reason for it

Re: Louth/Meath Shore Marks
Hi John,
I fish louth a lot, its barron enough at this time of year, still plenty of flounder to be picked up but the bigger ones are up here in Nov/December.
Also north of the estuary at the start of a flooding tide seems to be the best option up until around an hour before high water. The bass will be gone now untill maybe late June, 2012 it was more like august. You will get plenty of rockling and flounder on most beaches and some will throw up dabs. Some great sea trout to be had aswel along with the occasional Coalie.
Small mackeral strips on size fours or two's for your flats and in the summer good big rag or razor on 2/o or 3/o pennells for your Bass. Black Lug is a great bait aswel for the flats.
Its trial and error really John and figuring out the best stage of the tide for each beach, i find the flood starting an hour before dark the best but some lads might argue with that. If i was to pick a beach to fish this wknd id go for termofeckin into darkness. Should get plenty of flats.
Enjoy the fishing.
