coliemore harbour dalkey thieves
Had my van back door lock done today at coliemore while out in the kayak fishing, with some mates, i dont leave anything of any value in it, yet when i took my waders off i noticed the thieving gits had pinched my jeans and runners(sad feckers) twice 2 lads were spotted once by me, and once by a mate who left early, he said they were foreign lads acting weird, the lads i seen were in a silver 04 motor they past us while checking us out then got out around the corner and pretented to fish at the harbour for 5mins and left , they drove past checking us out again , they werent locals

sorry to hear that scumbags. i dont post much here but interseting to see thing on redrock. My Da got done there before...
smashed back window, took watch, wallet, suit, shoes. decided didnt want suit or wallet dumped them on the ground 100 yards away
just a quick tip we stupidly left stuff visible on back seat in our rush to make tide so try bring valuables with you or hide it as best you can!!
unfortunately its getting more common and not just in remote places, brazen scumbags. one day they will get caught and they will be praying its the cops not 20 boys returning after a compo!!!

Re: coliemore harbour dalkey thieves
Dosent matter if all valuables are hidden ,if they have time and your car is out of the way they will break in for a look,I know it puts a journey on myself but i always park my car outside a house or any bit of civilisation and walk ,it's a pain but the piece of mind is worth it

Re: coliemore harbour dalkey thieves
Happened to my car outside my apt. Broke the window and all they robbed was the spare tyre. Know it happens a lot up the Wicklow Mountains. There's glass anywhere where people park their cars to go walking. The advice seems to be to leave nothing valuable in the car but most importantly if you have any way of making it visible that the boot is empty to do that. Also to open the glove compartment so that anyone looking in can see its empty (no sat navs etc). Won't deter them all but might help.

Re: coliemore harbour dalkey thieves
Try to keep an eye on car registrations that may look out of place, I do it when I head out on small lakes. Was given advice by a guide who had his car broken into and his rods taken to keep the car in sight of wherever you're paddling. Mightn't be possible though on bigger lakes and when you're at sea.

Re: coliemore harbour dalkey thieves
this happens all over unfortunately not alot you can do, scumbags everywhere, we actually had incidents of tyres being slashed and brake fluid poured over cars up here in antrim. some good advice is to park in a populated area as others have said or outside a house if possible, maybe fish in pairs leave all the gear with the other person then take a drive somewhere and park the car and walk back, bit of hassle but maybe save a lock or window replacement.
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.
