The pier in Howth used to get mackeral but haven't seen many anywhere around howth this year. Also the rocky site of the pier in Dunloaghare used to produce macks, pollock and dogs but haven't fished there in years. Both spots would be safe enough.

Might head out to Howth this weekend if the sun is shining. I'll let you know how I get on.

I had a few off Black Head the last few weeks, 10 in an hour then 3 in twenty minutes. I had been using bog standerd silver feathers with size 2 hooks and was getting nothing. A friend told me to scale down in hook size to the smallest I could find, maybe a size 4 or less. They were some sort of japanese bait catchers cut down from a nine feather trace to three and BANG...it was fish after fish for a while. It's worth giving it a try IMO.

Not sure about North Dublin but bandstand east pier in Dun Laoighaire might be worth a shot. Most people float fish there into the harbour. Good fun if they're in

The only thing "Local" about SAI is that the servers its hosted on are probably in Dublin. Mods correct me if Im wrong.

As for Macks, plenty off Brandon Pier, Kerry the other week. Forgot to post results.

I don't get how it's racist ,yes they are gobshites I just thought I'd add that there were a mix of idiots ,but just to let people know some of the "anglers"are rude ,ignorant and dangerous ,I took a walk down and stayed about 20 mins and watched ,other times I've seen the stupid 20' long telescopic rods with way too much lead on them and strings of twelve feathers on them and they don't even look back before they cast ,so I would not recommend the pier to anyone with kids,or values their sanity

Fair play for all recent reports - please please keep them coming!!!

Was down in Courtmacsherry today and two inshore boats came in with one mack between them. I'm just glad I didn't get up to catch the early tide for a few macks as I doubt if they are along that coast in numbers - hopefully with the settled weather - fingers crossed...

Very interested in reports from Kinsale - anyone driving by the bridge... please post what you see, great help to many responsible anglers.

I feel bad about the reports I see here.

The mack marks that we have been fishing are all giving out good catch since early summer (May). In the last few weeks the limited number of guys that fish on the same marks are reeling in 200+ macks a session of about 2-3 hours... It has a small bit of rubbish that is manageable to be picked up. I hope it stays that way. Our freezer is almost full and ready for winter fishing and elderly neighbors happy with catch and fresh fish. Was there Saturday and got 90+ in 1:45 minutes... Was back yesterday with a young lad that we are teaching to fish cause the mark is safe enough for 12 year olds... got 56 in 2 hours... Though the macks yesterday are mostly joeys while the macks last saturday were all big ones. Sunday Joeys are nice size for the young lad to be able to enjoy the fishing and feel the rattle at the rod.

Few more weeks and they should be out back at a distance.

I hope the shoal moves to some area where anglers are putting effort and are getting nothing...
