Hi Guys,
I was thinking of changing my line from mono to braid. Can anyone advise me on what colour or breaking strength to choose? I do most of my fishing around the Dublin/Wicklow area from the shore and the odd bit out on the boat.
Cheers

Re: Braid - Colour & Strength?
Not too well up on braid I just start using it on my small reel,
But one thing with braid is you can use heavier Braking strain than mono down to its very thin diameter so for rough ground u could use much stronger line without having problems casting,
But I'm sure some of the pro's can point u in the wright direction

Re: Braid - Colour & Strength?
Think 20 lb is about the norm for lure fishing with a short mono or fluro leader ( maybe 2ft or so). Not so sure for beachcasting. I have 40 lb for beachcasting but that might be overkill. One thing I have found is that when using it for beachcasting if the sea is rough the grip lead seems to pull out a lot with it.

Re: Braid - Colour & Strength?
a softer tip will stop the lead pulling out when using braid ,what colour is personal choice a shock leader is good as it will stop you wearing out the braid or getting sliced through by rocks ect and make casting more finger friendly ,20 or 30 lb is ideal with 30 prob best if your going to go boat fishing too
