What are pollack taking??

Im fishing in carnesore point mainly and im catching a lot of small pollack.. what are larger fish taking or could anyone recommend spinners, lures or baits.?? i do a lot of lure and spinning fishing off rosks and the shore..

The Savage gear sandeel
I have been watching a fishing buddy using one of these lures, over the past few weeks and the results are well worth looking at.
I have been using all sorts of lures for pollock, and the Savage Gear Sand-eel wins hands down. My resoning is the life like action in the water. Just watch it in clear wather and will see the reason the pollock get foolded into dinner by them.

They come in a few different colors and lengths, they are quite expensive for what you get but worth it, just try not to lose them.

Paying big money means quality to me Me and my brother are big fans of savage gear so we know the prices you pay they can be fairly high..

Ever try some black worms?? few people are talking about them... what do you think???

I also think the savagear lure are hard to beat but I prefer the sandeel slug which i fish either on a sakuma 14g jig head or rigged texas style and just bounce it off the rocks at the bottom. I had seven pollack on the 'dirty sandeel' colour today. nothing big the best was a greedy thing of around three pounds that was coughing up tiny sprats when I landed it.



as you can see they really attack the slugs. The slug requires more work put into it by the angler to give it more life and you can often feel a few plucks before the fish takes it. Had a little wrasse on one today as well, just cannot find any big wrasse left up here.

You can get them on cheap lures as well, these Pollock were caught on lures from lidl.

they'll take most things IMHO
just use bigger lures or soft plastics
a bigger hook will deter the little fellas
fish your chosen lure slowly
im a big fan of the bloodhead sidewinders myself. 6 inch. they are in every way very similar to the other lures mentioned above
you just need to find a spot with big pollack!

All you need ar jellyworms......50cent each or so, and pollock absolutly go nuts for em, fish em texas style and away you go.

The black worms I use for pollock would be the fire tails. As for the sand-eel slug another great sp I had great success with these while fishing for bass. As all the guys have had success with all types of lures I guess its hard to say which sp would out fish another sp.
Ill be sticking with the Savage Gear as I am getting the bigger pollock on them..

Im using side winder eels at the moment.. they seem to work great when they are bounced along the bottom.. only problem is they are small, therefore a small jig head and therefore small fish..

Ill give you a buzz on this sure.. you never know where you would end fishing
I bought the savage gear jellys and ill prob be heading to the hot stop today or mabye within the next few mins to catch the low tide..

Baitdigger, how do you find the okuma trio 40s?

I have had the trio since April and so far it is faultless, well balanced on my 8'7" rod and has done everything I could want it too. I have had the odd bit of trouble with line loops but I think that is down to the poor quality braid that I have on at the moment.

I have the savagear sandeels but in the 42g and I havent really given them a go yet. I am trying to find some nice wrasse so I tend to stick to senkos and smaller eels at the moment. Conditions are hard up here and we are just clearing the red tide. Constant driving winds are leaving my favourite marks unfishable through weed.
I know on days pollack will take anything but I think I did well on the Dirty Sandeel slug because there were massive shoals of small sprats being herded by the mackerel up onto the rocks And the pollack were picking these off.
I have done well in the past with the black firetails and also with the storm wildeyed sandeel. As everyone has said they will on days take anything and if anyone wants a cheap lure a strip of squid the size of a sandeel is deadly up here.
