Sick sad individuals I'd love to see one ,I've seen loads of buzzards and one red kite in north Dublin very impressive birds but I believe the sea eagle is bigger again pity we have some narrow minded idiots about in this day and age

It's a real shame alright. I think the Scots have been giving us the birds (well, the Golden eagles anyhow) but they keep getting poisoned. Not looking good. Obviously someone was intentionally trying to kill them in this case but I think a lot of the time they are poisoned inadvertantly by poison meat bait left out for foxes etc
Seems we need better laws in relation to the use of poisons

We need much better laws in relation to lots of things... The Golden Eagles come from Norway and there has already been one warning from Norway regarding the protection of the fish they are supplying. Foxes and other predators can be targeted by other means. Really terrible news.

i can only hope that these people succeed in their effort to try and reintroduce these birds back into our wild.

unfortunately, i know of some guys who possess shot guns and who are complete idiots. i know of one in particular who wantlingly, willingling, and ignorantly just shoots anything that moves  :( . ive heard of him firing a round or two into a flock of seagulls that were flocking rounds the back of his farm, and at flocks of starlings. he also returned from the back of his yard one day having killed a thrush with a shot gun. a thrush like! wtf! and in asked why he did it, the repsonse was "ah, they're nothin but vermin". what a complete t*t. he's the feckin vermin we need to be concerned about
so its pricks like these that i have the real issue with
that eagle wouldnt stand a chance

these guys have their work cut out for them
i dont undertnd the poisoning bit at all. why would peole want to do this? for this same reason?

i could be wrong but i think the poisoning could be as simple as someone using poison in the house for a mouse or rat, said mouse or rat goes outside gets caught by eagle and eating , eagle dies
been shot at is a discrace anyone who shoots at an eagle is a Idiot and should have there licence taken from them

Think some of the golden eagles poisoned in the past have picked up baited carcasses intended for old mr fox. Why though somebody would shoot an eagle with a shotgun makes my mind boggle
