Bait fishing at night
I mostly do lure fishing but am trying out the beach fishing with bait a bit more. I notice from most of the reports etc that people seem to mostly fish the beaches at night. Just wondering is it a waste of time during the day or is there some species that can be caught just as easily as at night? Also, is it less of an issue outside of the summer months? Not that we actually get any sun in the summer of course..!

Re: Bait fishing at night
If the beach ur fishing is calm clear water and shallow eg.most north dublin meath louth,i bait fish them at night, but u can fish a shallow beach in daytime depending on conditions, surf and murky water, the deeper the beach the better in daylight, but as we all know fishing is trial and error,u just have to figure out tide wind and bait more so than light

Cheers Eoghan, yeah I live around North county Dublin myself. I took a trip to Ennereilly last night. Picked up some frozen crab and a pulleg rig with 2/0 and started lashing half portions of crab as far as I could, not very far admittedly! Started about 7, and fished till 10. I was convinced I'd get something when it started getting dark but didn't even get a doggie. I'll keep at it though cause it'd be nice to keep fishing in autumn/winter. To be honest I prefer fishing during the day/sunset but if it makes a big difference I'll try at night.

The Fishing there for the past week has been aweful, I was there last Friday the 19th and had 8 very good hounds and a decent flounder, fished there this Saturday the 27th and had a nice plaice and dab and that was about it, it's just hit and miss with fishing mate. We wer there for 6 hours and had 5 fish between 2 off us. Just keep at it and you will soon get a good nite!daveyboy wrote:Cheers Eoghan, yeah I live around North county Dublin myself.
