nrt wexford 30/06/2011 bass

#1 Post by sea serpant »

People:me and brother

Duration:2am-5am

Tide:dropping

Weather:beautiful

Bait:rag ,crab,razor

Rigs:single hook clipped

Results.. 5 bass-3 of which schoolies and 1 of 3lb and another of 3.5lb and more dogs than i care to remember...

Report:
was staying in wexford for the night so about one in the morning decided to hit one of the local beaches in search of hounds.. the weather was excellent and the sea was flat and calm but my crab supplies were pityfull  anyway i geared up for a few casts but the dogs were absolutely relentless hitting every bait i put out in seconds .. i quickly ran out of crab and my hopes of landing a few hounds started to look bleak but with daylight breaking and ragworm and razor all i had left my tips started to come alive 8) 5 bass consecutuvely 3 of which schoolies with 2 over the 3lb bracket came sliding up onto the sand and it broadened my smile to say the least  with my bait gone i returned home ill be back for the hounds in a week or two.... ps ill get some photos up in the next day or 2..

ye its nice.. funny enough i when i catch bass i usually catch them in numbers but real size usually troubles me as my personal best i landed of just under twelve pounds about six years ago and since then have failed to break the 4/5 lb bracket..

Yeah,it's somewhat worrying, sign of the times possibly, the schoolies are fun but iv been lucky enough with a few big ones here and there, again well done, stick with it
