Bass and baits

#1 Post by Gabbey11 »

Alrite so I need to target a bass at some stage this year, depending on the weekend I may go a drive.
Anyone know of a general area either donegal or further round the coast from there.
Ive heard of a few places but only have the day so cant go any further south.
Also rag or crab? Ive heard both work, if this all goes to pot im going for a ray or two.
Any advice would be v helpfull
cheers
(ps think the ban is lifted this weekend or Im going ray hunting anyway :D )

for a better chance of bass you would be better heading south instead of north man, through dublin or towards wicklow. but if your after ray why not head up to leenan in donegal this weekend as there is a site meet. you'll get to meet a load of the lads off the forum and you could pick a few brains regarding marks and species. i've always found this to be the way to go when searching fish out. at the end of the day we are all here to help eachother out. and i find that meeting other anglers face to face reaps better rewards than someone being bothered to write a load of stuff out in a message  :P :P

Actually that was where I was planning to go, what days it on?
where only going on Sunday or maybe saturday night and staying over.
Also its more the drive for 1 days fishing i dont think im interested in going all the way down to wicklow altho Ill maybe map it and see the difference in time.
Cheers for the info

Actually according to route planner not a huge difference in times, well see what baits we have and maybe organise around that

hi gabbey, not sure what the meet time is at on saturday. we'll be heading up from north belfast before noon and are planning to set up camp and fish through to sunday afternoon. loads of great marks to fish up there with different venues offering flats, rays, pollock wrasse and conger :D .
as for the drive it's almost the same with the motorway to wicklow. we can leave the house in belfast and be fishing within 2 hours :P . wee buns man
