I went bass fishing to Enereilly, Wicklow for the first time in May, about 2 weeks before the close season. I fished from 1 hour before high tide to 2 hours after. I was just about to give up and reeled my line in half way and stopped for a cigarette. I caught 3lb+. It was no more than 15-20 yards out. Good luck.
