Smoooooooooothies, Tactics, Venues, Rigs, Crabs, Contacts!

#1 Post by Drew »

Ok, as the titles says.
Ok guys, as it says, suggestions as to venues, distances needed for said venues, prepared to travel so Dublin/Arklow direction isn't a problem. Will probably be fishing during the day mind.
What sort of rigs do you guys use for them?
Could someone get me in contact with someone who supplies peelers?
Anyone free on Tuesday/Wednesday (7th&8th) June for a session?

If u don't want to put info on Public forum PM me!

Thanks in advance guys.

anywhere in sth wicklow nth wexford you,ll have a chance a flooding tide and a flat calm sea is ideal.. a long pulley rig with 3/0 pennel hooks is my fav rig.. distance casting can sometimes be essential especially during the day... tightlines off this site might be able to sort you out with crab or dave tilly also off this site... after that its pretty much simple fishing no great secrets or tactics just remember to set your drag as they can make your rod dissappear and thats no exaggeration.... best of luck .....

Ballymoney, clones, courtown (all quite close to each other) will produce hounds. A chuck of 100 yards will see you hitting fish. Crab is king but dont rule out rag, an underestimated hound bait. Rising tide into darkness is ideal but daytime is still worth a bash. Rig wise a 2\ 0 pulley rig or a loop rig if I have loads of bait.

crab is top bait but 3 large lug on a size 3 circle hook works well for me! incoming tide as it gets dark is best.
check out the moon cycle too, around the new and full moon always got results on my trips!
Southwall poolbeg in dublin is great once the brown sludge doesn't cover yer tackle.
species 2009, whiting :(, three beard rockling,.shore rockling, 5 beard rockling, flounder, lesser spotted dogfish,bullhuss, dab,bass(13), more whiting : pollock,poorcod,pouting, sea trout(the dodder!)brown trout,sea scorpion,mackerel, silver eel,
topknot:), cod, conger, corkwing wrasse, smooth hound.
