Bass at Dollymount - Dublin

#1 Post by nanor »

Has anyone heard of any recent reports of Bass being caught at Dollymount?
Would they only be caught from the surf, or would they venture into the channel between the mainland and the causeway?

What other fish might be good from the area now that the winter months have arrived?

Have been fishing from the wooden bridge quite regularly over the summer, mostly at night and have only caught mackerel (and unwanted crab when bait fishing).

Cheers :D

im not an expert but i know the area well an i know guys that fish the area an from wat i no if your looking for bass in that area the best place to focus on is the red rock/sutton side of the channel near the rocks an rough ground...best time is from august-november and peeler crab is essential... again the wooden bridge and other spots have an do throw up the odd few fish but were i mentioned seems to be more productive....

Haven't fished there for years but did catch bass there about 5 years ago. Now they were small and very lathergic, possibely due to the desil washing around from eastpoint. Tehy were caught inbetween where the grass verdge ends and before the gates of St Anns park. At low tide you will sea a gully. This is where I was casting to and all fell to rag. Have not seen anyone there reciently though.

I know the spot you're talking about Lenny.
Had a look around there a few weeks ago (on the St. Annes side) but the rancid mud and rubbish piled up on the shore makes it difficult to stick around.
I'll take a look further down the causeway soon. Thanks for the tip
