Rush area fishing

#1 Post by baza1 »

Hi all,

Lads i was thinking of doing some bass fishing in rush north dublin.

Can anyone suggest where to fish .

Ive heard from a few people that theres a place in rush called Rogerstown that could produce a couple of bass.

Can anyone help me out with this.

Thank you

ROGERSTOWN IS A VERY HARD PLACE TO FISH DUE TO THE STRENGTH OF THE TIDAL FLOW,TRY GORMANSTOWN OR HEAD TO WEXFORD.

Rogerstown has to be fished on a flooding tide but the crabs would drive you mad, try the South beach with a surf or rush harbour for whitening once it gets dark

Apologies for hijacking the thread. Just wondering would it be rare to get whiting big enough to take home and cook?

the short answer is yes very rare

2 years ago i was out nearly 3 nights a week on the east coast - loads of pins double figures every night

id say of the 100s of whiting i caught maybe 5 might have been near 30cm

The south shore beach in rush can produce the odd bass when you have a surf; usually when theres a bit of a south easterly blowin,
Calm nights on a flooding tide will produce flounder on the same beach .
I fished it a lot a few years back and my heaviest bass was 6 and half lbs.
