Caught this at the weekend.. unfortunately i didnt take a picture of it because it was used as bait... it was small. very holographic, the scales didnt come of like a herring or anything. at first i thought it was a scad,
any ideas

havent a clue - you very rarely see them being used for bait
its more a case of yourself there coming across one while fishing and trying it out
id say if it was some killer bait - the cat would have been let out of the bag at this stage
still nice one for the species list!

i cut it into slices and used it with whites and maddies.. it did catch a couple of undersize of flounder.. there wasnt really much of scent of it to be honest.
when i first lifted it i thought it was a weaver and thought that wee fluker just got me.. i let out a sigh and checked the trunks, then checked to make sure it wasnt.

If it was smelt, its a killer bait for pike fishing! If that interests ya at all

It was tough going the other night.. lost the will for fishing about an hour into it.. had plenty of fish just no interest
