Crab (non peeler) - Any good?

#1 Post by cw1 »

Are crabs that aren't peeling any use as bait for hounds? Was thinking of giving them a try, but if they're no good wouldn't want to be killing them for nothing. Thanks

i dont no about hounds but if you fix a small hardback crab to a 2/0 hook with some elastic an ledger it over deep rock marks you could have a chance at a nice ballan wrasse

ya sea serpant is right there.wrasse love the crabs.any type.hard back, velvet back and hermit crabs too.etc.but who knows if the hounds where hungry u mite get lucky.bring 1 or 2 with u and give it a try.try one on a flapper with another bait or try the 2 on a flapper rig.experiment always

Yeh i would hit them a crack before chucking them out as it lets some juice out of them.
