the munster open 21 nov

#1 Post by Martin Mc Gowan »

well what did people think about this great comp

Want to know what i think of it, its A JOKE
why because for all the comps i have fished this was the worst. my frist time fishing it and my last, who was the over see r i dont know, should have been called off to start with went from a 5 hour down to a 3 hour comp. spent all week gettingg bait for what to have to move spots ofter set ing up my gear and walk half a mile down the beach to another peg lost 10 min off fishing time but sure thats the way this comp is run then thats ok. and after 3 hours in wind and rain stuck up againsg rocks to go back to the pub for some heat and some food that i tought would be given to the anglers guess what not even a peanut this comp was a JOKE and has a lot off catching up to do .......this has to be looked into

:x

Not my province (pun intended, see what I did there), but I don't see the point of using SAI to whinge about other organisations activities.

Post locked. PM me or another mod with several good reasons as to why it should be unlocked.

Hi Martin

Sounds like a disaster allright. How may actually turned up? IMHO it seems crazy to organise any kind of competition with the weather as bad as it is at the moment. Don't enter competitions myself but sorry to hear about your bad experience. Safety must always be considered 1st and no doubt that was the reason for the move. However the least a man can expect is a Sambo and a hot cuppa after braving the elements to pursue his sport :)

hi
just to reply and just want to say that i dont really want to be give in out and nagging too much about the day the reason we had to move was because the peg from 1 to 13 was in front off an island off rock and would have been suicidal to fish and anglers would have been cut off by the tide just poor pegging..and the anglers walked off the beach in protest, well its over now for this year will be better next year ?

sounds like the organizers dident know the beach thet were pegging but im glad you got back on to tell us the story
the general consenses was that this should have been postponed in advance because of the weather its no good trying to fix it up on the day [ie changing the times ] alas this used to happen quite a lot when i fished comps after taken time to dig bait buy gear organize time and drive a couple of hundred miles to find its either called off or should have been even club comps drive down to find 4 other gobshites who like you were expecting 50 others to be involved thats why i was interested in seeing what had you so pi--ed off and i cant say i would blame you thanks for repleying martin it just shows
you things dont change much in 20 yrs ps how did glasgow work out?

the only thing maybe to come of this is we know things have to change and lets hope they do and are inforced for next year. some of them i think would help are
1) all clubs should have a venue and a sheltered back up one in case of bad weather (and it be listed on fixture lists).
2) beachs should be picked on it ability to fish well not just on how handy it is to get to or mark.
3)the club hosting it should know the beach well.
4) there should be a min of 20 paces between pegs .
5)the legs should not be bunched in to certin parts of the year ,spread them out between feb and nov.
