Wexford Bass 24th/25th July 2009

#1 Post by Danny M. »

People:Baz Pat and Myself

Duration:12 hours over 2 days

Tide:All sorts

Weather:Warm but very wet at times :)

Bait: Hard and Soft Plastics

Results: 20+ Bass (we stopped counting at 20) some Pollock & Wrasse and 1 Stray Mackeral !!

Report:
Well where do I start! I cant put it all in or il be here till Christmas
We fished 3 different locations for the first time over a total of 12 hours in 2 days. We went exploring and boy did it pay off!!
Location 1 last night, Baz was rising fish on the Palichinko (I think thats how its spelt!) to beat the band...unbelieave watching the Bass go for it ! He nailed one on the surface, great fight and happy days for the lad.Pat and Myself were flicking out the soft plastics and getting a few fish which included Bass and Pollock  good scraps and smiley heads all round. Baz rose 3 Bass in 1 retreive with the Palichinko while I flicked out a soft plastic into 1 of the Bass Boils and robbed his fish :P some craic!. Bass were landed on subsurface lures by Baz when the light faded and I even managed a stray mackeral on the Feed shallow when it was pitch dark ! This poor guy was in a serious need of a GPS !
I got very wet ....and thats all im going to say ..........

Location 2, early rise at 4 am.
On location soon after, I was first into fish. I had 3 Bass in 5 casts on the xlayer !!! Absolutley cracking fights I got off the fish..
Then Pat and Baz fired an xlayer into the same location connected with one, all hands to the pump fish every where, lures going in all over the shop...fish being lost left right and center. Xlayers being smashed to bits by the hard fighting Bass.
This was pure Bass Heaven. But we kept moving to explore more ground. Pat got 2 nice Wrasse on Xlayer, gave him a real test on the light gear...cracking sport. More Bass landed and it was time for a break and off to get the breakfast.
Pat got very wet this time ....and thats all im going to say ..........

Location 3, we tried for the craic not expecting any fish.
I put on a Storm sandeel and the lads went with hard plastics.
Bang I was into a belter of a fish just down the road from the lads, it all kicked off again when the lads arrived up to me
Soon after Baz and myself had a double hook up of Bass both fish being played at the same time...then pat was into one...me heart was coming out of my chest..madness.
No time for photos ..pure bedlum ensued.
All fish were returned.

Here ive typed enough..im burnt out.

Until next time.
