that's unbelievable stuff. Congratulations.
I've caught a few from the boat but have never targeted them from the shore but would love to. Having to cast out a mackeral flapper has always put me off. What size chunks were you casting out and how far?
Well done again.

Helllo ello ello, tanx for the comment...!!

Ehh we were casting no more than 50 yards, they will be roaming in around as soon as the tide starts 2 rise. And as for the size of Mac fillets, better off using heads m8.. Fillets will get you tope, dont get me wrong but when u use heads u have less chance of gettin troubled by dogs. They seem 2 flock 2 fillets like flies on Shite :) Plus u wont be goin through as many steel traces that way either, dogs will ruin steel traces, hard 2 believe but they are unreal.. Gud luck with the fishing 8)

I'm not a lover of using mackerel heads myself. I prefer the good old large fillet. I've seen to many missed hook ups over the years using the heads. Having said that I've seen plenty of missed hook ups with fillets too ...just not near as many.

Dont discount the dogs either ....they can be a handy "guide" sometimes......If you are catching dogs then the chance of there being a tope nearby is slim.

The thing to watch for is when the dogs stop feeding all of a sudden.....This is the time to make sure your ratchet is set properly.

Cracking Fish there BTW.
