Report:I had my mind set on going all week, but after seeing the weather out of my window all day and watching the local news it looked like I would have to give it a miss!! There seemed to be a short break in the heavy rain at around 7pm, which did the trick for me, and off I went heading to Waterfoot Pier. I was guessing that it would be empty because of the terrible weather. The usual 45 min run took an 90 mins and I should have turned back. The roads were all flooded and I was putting my faith in the Landrover to get me there in one piece.
I finally arrived at Waterfoot and found myself to be the only one on the Pier ( no surprise ). I got out of the car and was almost blown off the side by the gale force wind, so I tucked the car into the corner of the Pier and set one rod up and cast out into the storm. I sat in the car with the heater on and watched the rod tip .
10 mins later I had a small Pollock and things wernt looking so bad afterall. The weather was getting worse but I still managed to land a couple of Flounder and then things went quiet for about an hour. I was just about to give it all up when the Doggies came on to feed. I was catching them one after another for about an hour or so. I was over the moon about it, I had expected to catch very little if anything at all.
Just as I was thinking I must be the only mad one out fishing tonight, 4 guys turned up and started fishing. I carried on for another 30 mins or so and then packed up, gave the guys the rag I had leftover and went home.
I am glad the weather didnt put me off.
