Duration: 2.5 hrs
Tide: ebb
Weather: overcast stiff enough s/w wind
Bait: -
Rigs: plugs
Results: 2 bass
Report: headed out to this spot i love to fish but have had poor results really - listened to too many stories about it at this stage - but last night it came good
rolly was very pessimistic - with small pup seals about a half dozen knocking round the place
the intention was to have the bait rods out also but the large tide moved to quickly to keep them going
rolly was messing with a bait rod when i had a huge splash right in front of me about 5 metres
there is life i thought! and theyre not afraid of the seals!
got the first lad after about 20 mins of spinning on a bottom spinner - about 1.5lb
happy out a bass close to home - albeit a schoolie
kept working along the channel and another take much bigger about 5lb but the drag was way to low - tried to fix it in fight but the devil threw the lure
kept at it and then again hooked up about 45mins later about 3lbs - great fight on a terribly light rod - as i got him in close his weight broke the tip - but luckily he didnt manage to jump off
rolly took pics but it could be a while to get them up
started to rain - and then made the hour walk back to the car in the dark
smiling like a chesire cat still
3rd rod down this season - happy days all the same
rolly had a bigger one splash right beside his but no hook ups - he was using a bass buster mainly kicking on the surface - not letting it dive too much
i think mine being a low traveller was better for the bass being coy of the seals knocking round nearer the surface
its great when a plan comes together
