People: me and jordan

Duration: 3.30pm - 8.45pm

Tide: low to rising

Weather: sunny, windy and bitterly cold

Bait: rag, mackerel belly strips and baby squid

Rigs: 3 hook flapper

Results: 1 corkwing wrasse and suspected hypothermia

Report:

after my last few lone trips junior was busting to get down and get in on the action. so we made a mad dash down from school at 3pm and were set up around half three. it was a lovely sunny day which was a bit deceptive cos it felt about -3 with wind chill factor. the wind was a bit of an issue making bite indication near impossible but we stuck with it anyway. i did'nt hold much hope in a great session due to the fact the fish are on the feed here at the moment during the night but junior was starting to get withdrawl symptoms since he had'nt been out for a session in near 10 days

and you don't have to twist my arm too hard when it involves a session

we set the 4 rods up and cast out and would you believe it he was straight into a fish

a lovely wee corkwing wrasse. after that as i expected not a bite, we stuck it out to near nine before heading for home. the wee man was made up as he has never caught a wrasse before and as for me less said the better as i only got a crab. upstaged by junior yet again

but i was all made up for him.

yes eyesreilly, as he liked to remind me again "it's quality that counts, not quantity" a corkwing wrasse that we have never caught before is worth more than my rocklings,whiting,pollack, lsd,codling and coalfish all put togeather as we have caught many of them in the past

cheers eric, you've just made jordans day, he's jumping round the living room singing "go me, go me!! " that's the first corkwing wrasse we've ever seen let alone caught. just how big do they grow?? was it above average size?
