Duration: 9am -1pm.. Fishing the Fall
Bait: peeler, pollock
Rigs: pulleys, feathers
Result: sunburn, pollock, dogs, wrasse and I'm not sure!!
Checked the forecast yesterday and today looked as good as it Turned out to be! So as i had a couple of hours to kill before work i packed my gear and hit one of my favorite deep water marks.
on arrival the weather was fantastic 20 degrees no clouds, and a light SW breeze.
The first hours were pretty poor with bottom fishing not producing a single bite. and spinning with the feathers only producing 1 small pollock (who became bait as i was short on crab!
the last two hours picked up! there was a quiet hefty bite on one rod i began to reel in but i was snagged so i left the line slack in the hope what ever had taken the bait would either come out of where it was hiding or free up the bait. when the slack was taken i quickly began to take the fish in and landed a 2-3lb Ballen wrasse.
as soon as i had the rod baited and back in the water the other rod showed some action and i retrieved a dog followed by another quickly after.
The last catch of the day surprised me the most! there was some tiny knocks on one of the rods, initially i assumed it was weed but after a while curiosity got the better of me and i took in a spikey fish about 2 inches in length that I'd never seen before! I'm guessing some sort of blenny but I'm hoping someone will set me straight!
Overall bar getting roasted was a fantastic day out bar the misery of having to go to work after
