That's amazing I had my first ever fishing trip with my father not 300 yards from there at about the 2nd set of steps.
It was also around the same time as the photo I was six and we caught loads of codling and plaice. How things have changed!! Great photo!!

Great photo, them boats were a real feature of the harbour, we used to try and hit them as kids fishing down there  I too have fond memories of this place I spent a lot of time there fishing.

class photo, many memorys running down that pier with the rods, when i was fishing it there was only the front boat the "coningbeg" there then it was gone, some great marks all along the side of the pier the hours would drift away quick and god forbid if you caught something "dacent" youd soon be surrounded 8)
Species....good film.....I'll get my coat

git , is that really you , you must have just come back from the barbers , had some great sessions on that pier plaice to 2 lbs ,seen 4 lbs plus plaice at them boats
had a lucky 12 lbs bass at the end . i know of an eel over 40 lbs that was recorded from the west . for the big pollack the east was more renowned at the boyd monument
the late mick russel had them to over 9 lbs on heavy spinning gear there and there was at times good catches of codling off the end of the east in summer especially
coming into dark . happy memories , git

Brings back some great memories. :D :D
Bus into town, train out to Dun Laoghaire, long walk down the pier, but as said above some great plaice, pollock, codling fishing then.
Then return journey with a few fish for the pan happy days. :D :D
That would have been in early sixties for me.

I'm not doubting you but it looks more 1955 than 1975. If it was 75 the boy would have been in a pair of flared brown cords and a pair of brown brogues. I was almost five years old and there are plenty of pics of me on the pier around that time and I wasn't in short pants and a coat!
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.
