Engine advice

#1 Post by trevt »

Hi Folks,

I recently bought a 14ft mayland and Suzuki 6hp 4 stroke outboard.
I am finding that in strong tides the boat is a bit slow against the tide. On slack water it goes great. I am thinking of possibly getting a bigger engine.

My question is what horse power would be suitable for this boat to give me a bit more power without affecting the stability of the boat?

Cheers,
Trev

Wouldn't be overly familiar with the type. A look at Boats&Outboards would show some for sale, they mostly seem to have engines around 9.9hp. Don't know if it would take a 15hp.

I'm sure if you do a more detailed search you'll see whats most popular.
