Wexford 22nd June 2006

#1 Post by John D »

People:Me and Graham Murray

Duration:07:00am to 07:30pm

Tide:High at approx. 06:35am and 07:15pm

Weather:Breezy, warm, dry, sunny patches.

Bait:Fresh peeler, fresh rag and frozen sandeel

Rigs:sliding ledger

Results:3 lesser spotted dogfish and 1 Bass.

Report:
There were also two good runs at our early morning mark. I got dragged down the beach about 20 yards. It must have been a good fish because my drag was not that lose. What looked to be a double figure bass was missed. Graham brought it to the surface. He then gave it more drag and he lost the fish at this point.
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

Tough one. On the bright side, you appear to have the time, bait and tide sussed - always the hardest part, IMHO.

Better luck next time. At least there appear to be bigger fish out there.

I had a similar thing happen to me at Tinaberna. Was definitly a good Bass but lost it close in. I was using a multiplier and hadnt the drag set correctly. It happend me again in Brandon in Kerry and after that I have never used a multiplier again.
