#1 Post by Pat Spillane »

People: Me

Duration: 1900-2300

Tide:

Weather:Very mild with no wind. Had rained early in the day but in the evening the sunny south east lived up to its name. A bright night

Bait: Crab and all the usuals.

Rigs:3 hook clipdown at short to mid range

Results: Dogs, dogs and more dogs

Report:Dogs right from the start with a couple of small dabs thrown in here and there. No sign of hounds or ray. I met Donagh later and he had a similiar result at the other end of the beach.

From looking at the uk gov site the high tide was 7:30pm but the nespaper said 12. It was hard to tell but I think the tide did ebb out after 7:30. The tide direction did change signifcantly at this time. I fished from 5 until 10:30 and the only time I didn't get bites was for half an hour of high tide.

I was fishing a long up and over rig in the hope of a ray but got dog after dog on it. Also used in a 3 hook paternoster with shorter hook lengths at times for multiple dog shots and on one cast got 4 dogs on it. Longer snoods produced less hook up on the ebb but dogs still mangled the baits.
