As social media has fragmented a lot of the discussion that was previously on web sites and forums, we have reopened the Facebook Group for SAI. We will use it to supplement the content that is on the web site.
Why have a group at all?
Sea Angling is facing some of its most challenging times. Stocks of many species are at levels that we have never seen before. More and more there are additional rules and regulations being brought in, mainly as a response to shrinking stocks.
To get a recognised voice to speak for sea anglers we need a mandate, a membership. So, we need as many sea anglers as possible to join this group as this will be our starting place for proper sea angling representation. In times gone by, we worked under the umbrella of the SAI forum. We got representation at various discussions due to being the “largest gathering of sea anglers”. Unfortunately, angling social media has moved away from the traditional angling forums and on to the likes of Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and X. We can still say that Sea Angling has a large membership, but the truth is that not many are viewing the forums these days and therefore it’s tricky to get information out to sea anglers everywhere.
