I got back out again this evening, surprisingly the wife agreed to put the kids to bed which gave me an hour window to get out and cast a line. Decided to fish a spot I had not tried before but had on the list for a while. Arrived at the venue about 9:15PM, there was a slight westerly breeze but mostly calm. After a bit of rain here in Dublin earlier in the evening it was a smashing evening to be out and about. Low tide was approx. 9:45PM so was hoping to fish the first couple of hours of the rising.

Started off using the Patchinko 100 surface lure, had that on for about 30mins but no takes or any interest from any fish. Switched over to the IMA KOMOMO SF-125 in the Cotton Candy colour, lovely lure which just sits approx. 100mm below the surface when the rod is held up which was perfect for this weedy and snaggy spot. Fished away for about 30mins until BANG, got a good solid take, once the fish realised it was hooked it put up a brilliant scrap, even took a bit of line off the reel! Great sport on light gear.

As I was landing it, the fish managed to get the back treble stuck in his belly area, unhooked it quicky and there did not look to be any major damage to the fish - they are hardy bucks those Dublin Bass! I got a quick snap and got it back into the water quickly, delighted to see it swim off none the worse for the experience! Estimate the fish was just under 40cm, maybe 38 or 39cm but gave a great scrap for such a small fish.

The time was about 10:30PM now, managed to get a hook stuck in my finger while I was unhooking the bass so decided to call it a night. I half debated dropping into the local on the way home for a creamy pint of Guinness but decided against it....got home, quick shower and managed to find a solitary can of Guinness hiding in the bottom of the fridge!

After going 25+ sessions blanking, I now have 2/2 and feeling much more hopeful (not confident) of meeting the 10 bass for the season target. Guessing there are about 12-14 weeks left in the season, I have not had a Bass in Dublin past the first week in November.
