12th trip of 2024
we had planned on fishing a surf beach but the northwest wind would have made it uncomfortable and difficult to hold bottom, so we headed up the east coast to cushendun. It was a bit more sheltered from the wind and when the clouds parted the sun shone down, but for most of the day it was overcast. Condition looked good for our target, the sea was clam with a gentle wave breaking and it wasn't long before rigs with green and black beads where cast out. Long casts where made with one rod and shorter casts made with the other. With ragworm, sandeel, mackerel all bases where covered for any fish that wished to bite. Unfortunately the fish didn't play ball with crabs stripping baits or even worse they came back untouched. There was birds diving and the odd sea trout jumping but nothing came to the hooks. All three of us blanked but what a great day to be out, after all its called fishing not catching, until next time tight lines all.
