6th trip of 2024

#1 Post by MC »

for the 6th trip of the year I went slightly further afield. When I finished work on Saturday I packed the car and drove to Galway to meet up with my old friend Steve. From there we went and dug fresh lug worm and digging lug in the dark isn't fun. Anyway armed with razor and lug we went back to the car where I was instructed to disconnect the sat nav, then I was given directions to a beach mark and I think Steve took me down a lot of country roads and wrong turns because I will never find this beach again. Once we parked and set up the gear there was a long walk over some fields, glad I travel light these days. We got fishing a few hours after low water and Steve managed a bass first chuck not big about 31cm, while I was baiting up my second rod the first pulled over, too slow missed it. Fishing up and over high water and a few hours down it was hectic but steady, missed a few before I got my first bass of 28cm followed by a bigger one of 30cm. Steve at this stage had two bass and a massive dab, while packing up my zulcron bass hooped over and i managed to connect with this one for a 3rd bass of 31cm. As daylight dawned on us we headed back to the car and went for some food and coffee, lots of coffee. After some refreshment we went spinning for bass, not much luck but I did managed a hit and a follow at one of the marks. Now well into Sunday afternoon we had a late lunch and I took Steve back to his gaff, turned on the satnav and headed home and I can tell you after 36hours of fishing You be wrecked. Once home and fed and gear sorted I went to bed to catch up o much needed sleep, today I feel my age.

good ol steve, still keeping it stum - he was probably only winding you up and you were never more than 2 km from the house!
Great to have a guide who knows the mark so well to produce on demand like that.
some effort by yourself, fair play

Shhhh!!!! I wonder if he noticed us going down the same road three times.
Was a good session. Bass on first cast is always a bonus.
