If you were going to try fishing just to catch a fish, any fish, then it would be hard to beat fresh mackerel. If you plan to specialise and catch specific species you'll find Ragworm, Crab and lug are very important baits too.

Depends what your after but lug crab an mackeral is mostly what i would use
