North Dublin 02.05.2021

#1 Post by Gonzo »

When: 02/05/2021
Where: North Dublin
Who: Myself
Duration: 02:00-04:00
High Water: 04:20
Equipment: 13ft bass rod with 3/0 specimen x pulley with size 1 Aberdeen pennel, and 15ft surf rod same rig.
My Bait: Peeler Crab
Conditions: Calm night, barely a ripple on the water.
Result: 1 bass (42cm exactly)

Came out to the new spot tonight to try for more smoothies but unexpectedly got a bass 8)

Some thing's I've noticed, firstly 3/0 is far too big but I'm using them due to the big crab baits for good hook point exposure, might pick up some 1/0 crab hooks during the week. The other thing is all the fish I've got this week on the pulley rig have been hooked on the size 1 pennel.

Good fishing for Dublin. Great to see a few bass about and deserved considering you only started at 2am.
I wouldnt use anything smaller than a 2/0 hook alright myself and Ive noticed that the pennel can catch a lot of those fish alright.
