Killiney 3/1/20

#1 Post by kenf41 »

Tide 5.15 PM
Weather fine
Bait rag & crab
Result 3 whiting 1 rocking

Couldn't decide on a mark on the east coast. After much thought about going to a wicklow beach we ended up trying killiney. Started fishing at 3.45 with the beach full of people looking for sea glass ?? Anyway with darkness falling and the glass hunters gone we got a few small bites. Fished for another hour and a half and got 3 small Whiting a small rocking. Also a crab with no claws that still managed to eat the rag.
Crab baits went untouched
On the way back to the van we noticed the no fishing signs. Too late then I suppose. Wonder if any wicklow beaches we debated about going to would have fared any better.

Not sure but we saw 2 signs and they didn't mention flagged areas . I've heard there was designated swimming area when lifeguards were on duty but 1 sign says no fishing anytime

There's a swimming area you can walk down steps to with a shelter and all but that has no fishing at any time signs. Is that it? It looks very promising. Seems a bit deeper and rockier so you'd think that's where you'd find the cod if they're there.

I was on the beach. Didn't know there was signs at the steps as well. That's where white rock is isn't it

I couldn't swear to that as I'd only really know the beach by the car park myself. Is White Rock not the nudist beach further up again?

On checking on Google earth I'm talking about the bathing spot at Vico Road.

Hawks cliff (closest to Dalky) is no fishing, white rock (nudist and clothed swimmers) is a good spot at night. Killiney beach (furthest away from Dalky) is also good at times.
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.
