Killiney/Shankill/Dublin Bay
I'll be back in Ireland for a few weeks around the middle and end of the month and dying to do a bit of fishing. How is the fishing from Killiney and Shankill lately? Any early codling or anything around? Bass along Corbawn lane? Or could go down Lion's Head if there's anything worth trying for? Always thought there might be a chance of huss from there. Any tips welcome!

Hi, I fished it last Sunday for an hour. Nothing there but the tide was wrong and I didn’t stay long. It’s always worth a shot. Try at dusk on a rising tide.

Going to try get out in a week or so and scratch about a bit with everything. I was thinking of trying a lug/squid bait at range and see if there are any early codling around and maybe fish one rod in close with rag in hope of a bass if there are any around. Does this sound right or am I wasting my time looking for codling at this stage?

Sounds good to me! Rotten bottoms and pulley rigs essential I take it? Lug and crab the usual staples?

crab as good as anything but lug/rag can fish. wrasse there too among other fish. pulley fine, even an all mono 1 hook flapper with a rotten bottom and a hook that can bend out like a kamasan b950u. odd bass can be caught close in.
