Advice needed...

#1 Post by BDR »

Hi all. I'm looking for some advice on my equipment. So it's been about 15 years since I was last fishing (at 14 with my dad). But recently I received a rod as a present as I'm keen to start fishing again. The rod I got is a cheap one probably between 25-30€. The casting weight is 10-30 grams and it's 7ft in length so I'm looking for advice on what type of line, weights and tackle to use with it. As I said it's been a long time since I was last fishing so I'm not looking to fish anything very big, just mackerel for now maybe. Thanks for any advice.

It's a spinning rod for metal/rubber lures. Not for bait fishing.. could use feathers for mackeral on it with a 1oz but no more than that... And maybe get yourself a Shimano Sahara 4000 reel with 20/40 slider wire braid 300mtrs. But if you want to bait fish that ain't the set up for it

Well for the moment I'd just prefer to go spinning and maybe change to bait fishing eventually. Cheers for the advice on the reel and line. Appreciate it

Be sure to have a look through the lure fishing section of the forum and be aware of the necessary precautions anglers take. Good luck
