Ray & bass fishing Cork

Newbie to the site!
I recently took up fishing again after about 10 years of not touching the rod, after getting hooked again! Looking to catch ray & bass bottom fishing in cork, living in Douglas. Fished Fountainstown rocks (to the left) a good few times using mackerel and Sandeel, but only doggies! How far out are the ray and/or bass? Also, what are the other good spots using this bait around this area? Hoping to land a bass and also a ray by the end of the summer so hoping to get some helpful info from the experience in this site!Also when is the best time to fish fountainstown tide wise? And what other areas are good?! And last question- are the mackerel being caught off the shore anywhere in the harbour yet?
