Lads. what sites do you use for rig components?
I used alderney angling a good bit last year but that has folded now. Just interested to know what store has the most comprehensive selection and fair priceS

www.aliexpress.com is the cheapest, need to root through it and pay attention to sizes, and you can't be in a hurry, but very good value. Cheaper than chips...

Try me here - https://slaneyfishing.com/product-categ ... cessories/
I think im very competitive on the breakaway stuff - Unfortunately I can only get the 500 packs of hanging clips - At least you wont run out of them

Re: Best website for rig components?
Just got 100 casting clips (slightly larger than I expected, my fault ordered one size too big) and the listed value for 100 pcx is USD 0.53 yep 53 cents!kieran wrote:http://www.aliexpress.com is the cheapest, need to root through it and pay attention to sizes, and you can't be in a hurry, but very good value. Paid EUR 3.34 for them which is 33 cent each, delivered.
Veals charge GBP 1.50 for 10, which is GBP 15 for 100 which when you add P&P works out at GBP 22 (ok you could bundle them with other stuff) which when you add currency is EUR 25 on a good day. So only 7 or 8 times more expensive... Take out the P&P and its still 5 or 6 times more expensive.
FishingTackleDirect don't offer casting clips. Fishing Tackle Ireland offer the tronix casting clip at €1.49 each, yes, each.
Now I have heard of people taking the piss, but that it just a joke. Even if it were for 10, its still around the same cost at the UK. Anyone know of a machine that can be rigged to count and bag small components accurately because there's clearly a nice margin to be made in the Irish tackle business!!!

One thing I would question is the quality of these snap clips, can they withstand the pressure of a flying 6 oz lead?

As you can see they list the breaking strain with the individual items, and you are quite right, there must be a trade off between price and quality.
I think I ordered the #3 items, but I am not a "fire at the horizon caster" any more owing to a disc in my back so its not really an issue for me.

Re: Best website for rig components?
I'd say there might be problems with saltwater corrosion, but changing the snaps after every session would solve that, especially when you can get so many at such a good price.kieran wrote:As you can see they list the breaking strain with the individual items, and you are quite right, there must be a trade off between price and quality.
Neither am I by all means, I still mostly use overhead casting with the odd exceptions. I'll try them out for sure, at a price like that they have to be worth trying! These seem like the only pieces of tackle that you can kind of get away with buying cheaply (apart from beads).kieran wrote:I think I ordered the #3 items, but I am not a "fire at the horizon caster" any more owing to a disc in my back so its not really an issue for me.

Re: Best website for rig components?
Yeah it's something very important to keep in mind. I'll test them out with a 6 oz on a quiet day, we'll see how they hold up! Think these orders take months to arrive though.ardinn wrote:Jesus thats some price for them! I'd be wary at that price but definately worth a try on an empty beach! With a helmet on

EBay, http://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?sid=harryt ... efine=true I buy from him few times, good quality and come in less a week. Bait clip buy 50, but get 104, he mistake
My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
