Bait, Fishing Tackle Portrush/Portstewart/Derry/Letterkenn

#1 Post by Pyreneenguy »

Hi folks.

Heading over to West Donegal from Belfast next week and would like to buy some fresh bait to start things off / as a back-up :- lug, rag, peeler. Local tackle shops

only stock a limited choice of frozen bait.

Also your thoughts on shops with the best choice / best value in terminal tackle, spinners, jellies etc.

I don't mind making a detour if it's beneficial, however we do not want to visit Belfast on the way out, we're going to do that on the return journey.

Thanks.

There's Amazonas on the Pearse Rd in Letterkenny, always worth a quick visit to see what new stuff they've got in. I don't know how they do on the bait, though. http://amazonas.town.ie/category/683/Fishing

Unfortunately, John McLaughlin has closed up his Swilly Flies & Angling Center just outside Letterkenny, but he can be found in Bridge Gun & Tackle in Strabane, which is worth a visit. Check with them re bait situation: www.bridgegunsandtackle.com

Have a word with George in Kerrykeel too: http://www.themeadowstroutfishery.ie/contact.html or https://www.facebook.com/Georgesfishingtackle/
