Bass fishing Dublin/Wicklow

#1 Post by eoinbyrne »

Lads i've enjoyed fishing soft plastics for pollock and wrasse the past few years but I'm looking to specifically target bass this year as i've never caught one. Just wondering am I wasting my time fishing marks around Dublin/Wicklow? I may be able to take a few trips down to waterford/wexford in the summer but would prefer to be able to fish local marks regularly if possible.

also any tips regarding rod and reel setup, ideal conditions and tides would be appreciated

Hi Eoin

If you do a search in the reports you will find the odd bass reported around Dublin and Wicklow, but if I recall, it was more off rock marks than beaches... could be wrong there. Bass like a decent swell on beaches, nothing mad but too calm and they probably wont be bothered to come in and hunt through the water tables... so anything around 1 metre high for waves and you're normally good to go. Been a long time since I fished around Dublin or Wicklow, so best to leave detailed advice to others...

Tight lines...
