Howth, Dun Laoghaire, Greystones

#1 Post by bigalguitarpicker »

I'm hoping to visit the above soon. Got my All-Ireland travel pass now I'm Senior Citizen. Are any fish, of any species being caught in these locations? I once caught a Plaice of 4 lb+ behind the band-stand in Dun Laoghaire, and used to catch bucket fulls of Whiting there in Winter. 43 years ago.

I often fish the west pier in Dun Laoghaire. Float fishing with rag you will get Pollock and wrasse. They usually average 1-2lb but I've had wrasse to over 3lb. Fishing on the bottom with rag I've had dabs and flounders and have seen gurnard caught as well in the summer. I'm sure there's more fish to be had but that's all I can tell you from my experience fishing there.
