Cork deep water marks help!
Could anyone advise on deep marks around the shore of Cork, have been targeting mini species of late, as a change of pace from the plauge of whiting on the beaches!
Does anyone know if the deep water berth in ringaskiddy is open to the public this seems like a good place to continue the mini bashing, or if anyone else had any other suggestions of such structures around the county that holds mini or micro species ....have tried monkstown pier and courtmac pier and found small Pollock in abundance
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Re: Cork deep water marks help!
the deepwater berth isn't open but you can access the opp side from the carpark near the terminal I fished and walked it a good few times small pollock and mackerel was all I had on lures , dogfish off the bottom while looking for thornback .
there is a fairly thick weed bank running the full length of the walk way it can be difficult to reel in there, try finding a gap in the weed bank to allow you to reel in your lines.
I never lrf there could be a nice way to kill a few hours .
down further by the navy base and especially by the beach before paddys point there are always dozens of species like gobys , blennys , rockling and mini species in around the rock pools at low tide so it might be worth a go at high tide with light gear.

Re: Cork deep water marks help!
Thanks for that Dave...do u reckon floating a small bait just above the weed on the walkway in ringaskiddy would be a worth a shot?

Re: Cork deep water marks help!
This time of the year a float may not be as productive as opposed to a few months time, Ballycotton pier and breakwater would be an excellent place to start for lrf at this time of the year with baits not lures, you never know what type of species you will find down there. enjoy.

Re: Cork deep water marks help!
5lb codling sound like fun! Having fished an east cork beach last night night with very poor results, a few big codling seem like a dream at this stage

Re: Cork deep water marks help!
There are a few decent spots between the old helm hotel now the helm apartments in Crosshaven back to Church bay, I don't know how they are fishing at present but worth a look at some stage in the year. PM sent to you.
