Tampa bay Florida

#1 Post by Ric0shay »

Iv got a get opportunity to head to Florida in January for work.I wont be working all the time and I plan on getting as much fishing in as I can but I have no idea about it over there.

Would anyone have an experience with it ? I'm not really mad about big game fishing.More on the lines of sport and shore fishing.

you'd be exactly the same as myself RicOshay, could take or leave the big game fishing too :|

the fishing around florida is mean to be fantastic. havent fished there myself but know people who have and they were blown away by it
plan a trip to target redfish (also known as 'reds' or 'red drum', Sciaenops ocellatus). plenty of info online about them and videos on Youtube
thats the first species that pops to minds. then bonefish. the tarpon. then... :)

plan it well. make the most of it! lucky man

the fishing is also heavily regulated and controlled, for example there are strict conditions around fishing for the main "game" fish like snook and drum, in terms of when, where, and with what baits or lures.

Be sure to link up with some knowledgeable and honest locals before you go out. The fines are massive!

you lucky b*gger! Enjoy

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Ill be there for two months at least and Ill be working 6 days a week.Ideally Id just like to fish the shore with some in-shore on the good days.I suppose try find the equivalent of this site over there.

Iv no interest in the big game stuff to be honest. It doesn't appeal to me at all.

Fish and Game in the US even have arrest powers. The good news is that there is plenty of info online. Hopefully someone here will jump on this thread soon and give you some specific info.
