the longer rods can be a bit akward to cast if your are of smallish stature,but you get used to it ,but there again you can use much longer traces with ease.so if you are small I would go with the smaller rod.

Im using the Penn Rampage 15,9 rod and i have to say im very happy with it and you can lob out a good distance with some ease and the fact you can use extra long casts also,i have it a year now and have no problems with it.

I agree with all comments made, takes a bit of getting used to, but long overhead casts can be made with little effort, but if you really wind it up !!!!! (15'9")
Would suit beach fishing I think it might be a struggle from a rock mark tho.
