Is that because you've always used peeler or have you had no luck with crunchies?

It would be great if a few more lads tried this method and we could find out for Sure... Pealers can be hard to get on the East Coast around this time ;)

Why wouldent any crab work, Its not like they just hunt for softys or peelers, they will take any crab they see.

The hunt more so by smell than sight , btw I had loads of hounds last year on squid and also had them this year too on straight squid so worth a try for somebody that can't get they're hands on peeler thus time of the year and also it puts you in the mix for a few other species at the same time !

Should you use the crab whole or chop it up like a peeler?

In one socket and out the other kind of thing?
No need to take off claws or give them a bit of a crack for juices?

No you don't want to kill the crab hounds don't feed on hard backs by smell. Like most sharks hounds find there pray with electric sensors along there snout so you don't want a dead crab. Its very slow fishing with hard backs and is only good to weed out the big hounds if they are there

pull off there claws as stops them from taking cover in the sand, leave the legs on only pull off the back 2 legs and put the hook threw 1 side and out the other and wrap a bit of elastic around it i do this with softies and have had decent hounds its a better method if your after the bigger 1s
